Sirach 20:29
Friendly relationships and gifts will blind the eyes of the wise; like a muzzle on a mouth, they turn away reproof.
A wise man shall advance himself with his words, and a prudent man shall please the great ones.
Gifts and bribes make even the wise blind to the truth, and prevent them from being honest in their criticism.
Favors and gifts blind the eyes; like a muzzle over the mouth they silence reproofs.
Favors and gifts blind the eyes of the wise; like a muzzle over the mouth they silence criticism.
Favours and gifts blind the eyes of the wise; like a muzzle on the mouth they stop reproofs.
