If those who understand hear a wise word; they will praise it and add to it. Those who like to indulge themselves hear it and are displeased, and they turn their back on it.
But there is a wisdom that aboundeth in evil: and there is no understanding where there is bitterness.
When an educated person hears something that shows insight, it stimulates his mind and leads him on to other ideas. But when someone who is satisfied with ignorance hears it, he won't like it, and will forget it as soon as he can.
When the intelligent hear a wise saying, they praise it and add to it. The wanton hear it with distaste and cast it behind their back.
When an intelligent man hears words of wisdom, he praises them and adds to them. When a fool hears them, he is scornful and casts them aside behind his back.
