For their tongue that is polished by the craftsman, and themselves laid over with gold and silver, are false things, and they cannot speak.

Their tongues are smoothed by woodworkers; they are covered with gold and silver—but they are frauds, and cannot speak.

The tongues of these gods are polished to a smooth finish by artisans, and the idols, themselves, are overlaid with gold and silver. However, they are fraudulent and are unable to utter a word.
