When the young man wouldn’t accept the offer by any means, the king appealed to the mother to counsel the boy to save himself.
But when the young man was not moved with these things, the king called the mother, and counselled her to deal with the young man to save his life.
But the boy paid no attention to him, so Antiochus tried to persuade the boy's mother to talk him into saving his life,

When the young man paid no heed to his proposals, the king made an appeal to his mother, urging her to advise her son to save his life.
Since the young man would not listen to him at all, the king called the mother to him and urged her to advise the youth to save himself.
