But he answered in his native language, “Not at all.” Therefore, this brother also received in turn the same punishment as the first.
But he answered in his own language, and said: I will not do it. Wherefore he also in the next place, received the torments of the first:
He replied in his native language, I will never eat it! So the soldiers tortured him, just as they had the first one,
Answering in the language of his ancestors, he said, “Never!” So he in turn suffered the same tortures as the first.
Replying in the language of his ancestors, he said to them, “Never!” Therefore, he in turn underwent the same torture that the first had endured.
