2 Maccabees 2:31
Imprimir
The one retelling the shorter version should be allowed to pursue conciseness of expression and to be excused from an exhaustive treatment of the matter.
For to collect all that is to be known, to put the discourse in order, and curiously to discuss every particular point, is the duty of the author of a history:
but whoever is merely writing a summary should be permitted to give a brief account without going into a detailed discussion.
but one who is making an adaptation should be allowed to aim at brevity of expression and to forgo complete treatment of the matter.
The person who makes an adaptation must have the freedom to aim at conciseness of expression and to reject any exhaustive treatment of the subject matter.
but the one who recasts the narrative should be allowed to strive for brevity of expression and to forego exhaustive treatment.
but the one who recasts the narrative should be allowed to strive for brevity of expression and to forego exhaustive treatment.
but the one who recasts the narrative should be allowed to strive for brevity of expression and to forego exhaustive treatment.
but the one who recasts the narrative should be allowed to strive for brevity of expression and to forego exhaustive treatment.
but the one who recasts the narrative should be allowed to strive for brevity of expression and to forego exhaustive treatment.
but the one who recasts the narrative should be allowed to strive for brevity of expression and to forego exhaustive treatment.
forsooth for to (pur)sue (or to follow) shortness of saying, and for to eschew out (pur)suings of things, is to be granted to the abridger.
