2 Maccabees 8:35
was humiliated with the Lord’s help by those he despised the most. He stripped off his stately uniform and traveled into Antioch by the inland road like a lone fugitive, having succeeded only in destroying his own army.
Being through the help of the Lord brought down by them, of whom he had made no account, laying; aside his garment of glory, fleeing through the midland country, he came alone to Antioch, being rendered very unhappy by the destruction of his army.
was defeated with the help of the Lord by the very people he despised so much. He threw off his splendid uniform and fled all alone like a runaway slave, until he reached Antioch. He had succeeded only in destroying his entire army.
