He therefore called for his most esteemed officers, those who had been raised with him; and he divided his kingdom among them while he was still alive.
And after these things, he fell down upon his bed, and knew that he should die.
When Alexander had been emperor for twelve years, he fell ill and realized that he was about to die. He called together his generals, noblemen who had been brought up with him since his early childhood, and he divided his empire, giving a part to each of them.
So he summoned his noblest officers, who had been brought up with him from his youth, and divided his kingdom among them while he was still alive.
