1 Maccabees 10:20
So we have appointed you today to be the high priest of your nation. You are to be named the king’s political advisor. You should take our side and keep friendship with us. He sent also a purple robe and a gold crown.
Now therefore we make thee this day high priest of thy nation, and that thou be called the king's friend, (and he sent him a purple robe, and a crown of gold,) and that thou be of one mind with us in our affairs, and keep friendship with us.
I have this day appointed you as High Priest of your nation and conferred upon you the title of Friend of the King. You are to be our ally and give us your support.
We have therefore appointed you today to be high priest of your nation; you are to be called the King’s Friend, and you are to look after our interests and preserve friendship with us.” He also sent him a purple robe and a crown of gold.
