I say to myself, What distress I’ve come to! What a great flood I’ve now been plunged into! Once I was kind and was loved in my power.
And I said in my heart: Into how much tribulation am I come, and into what floods of sorrow, wherein now I am: I that was pleasant and beloved in my power!
At first I asked myself why these great waves of trouble were sweeping over me, since I have been kind and well-liked during my reign.
I said to myself: ‘Into what tribulation have I come, and in what floods of sorrow am I now! Yet I was kindly and beloved in my rule.’
I have asked myself: ‘Why have I been brought to these depths of despair, inasmuch as during my reign I was always kind and greatly beloved?’
I said to myself, “To what distress I have come! And into what a great flood I now am plunged! For I was kind and beloved in my power.”
I said to myself, “To what distress I have come! And into what a great flood I now am plunged! For I was kind and beloved in my power.”
