Version
Psalm 119:17-32

ג (Gimel)

17 Be kind to your servant.
Then I will live[a] and keep[b] your instructions.[c]
18 Open[d] my eyes so I can truly see[e]
the marvelous things in your law.
19 I am a resident foreigner in this land.[f]
Do not hide your commands from me.
20 I desperately long to know[g]
your regulations at all times.
21 You reprimand arrogant people.
Those who stray from your commands are doomed.[h]
22 Spare me[i] shame and humiliation,
for I observe your rules.
23 Though rulers plot and slander me,[j]
your servant meditates on your statutes.
24 Yes, I find delight in your rules;
they give me guidance.[k]

ד (Dalet)

25 I collapse in the dirt.[l]
Revive me with your word.[m]
26 I told you about my ways[n] and you answered me.
Teach me your statutes.
27 Help me to understand what your precepts mean.[o]
Then I can meditate[p] on your marvelous teachings.[q]
28 I collapse[r] from grief.
Sustain me by your word.[s]
29 Remove me from the path of deceit.[t]
Graciously give me[u] your law.
30 I choose the path of faithfulness;
I am committed to[v] your regulations.
31 I hold fast[w] to your rules.
O Lord, do not let me be ashamed.
32 I run along the path of your commands,
for you enable me to do so.[x]

Amos 9:5-15

The Sovereign Lord of Heaven’s Armies will do this.[a]

He touches the earth and it dissolves;[b]
all who live on it mourn.
The whole earth[c] rises like the Nile River,[d]
and then grows calm[e] like the Nile in Egypt.[f]
He builds the upper rooms of his palace[g] in heaven
and sets its foundation supports[h] on the earth.[i]
He summons the water of the sea
and pours it out on the earth’s surface.
The Lord is his name.
“You Israelites are just like the Ethiopians in my sight,”[j] says the Lord.
“Certainly I brought Israel up from the land of Egypt,
but I also brought the Philistines from Caphtor[k] and the Arameans from Kir.[l]
Look, the Sovereign Lord is watching[m] the sinful nation,[n]
and I will destroy it from the face of the earth.
But I will not completely destroy the family[o] of Jacob,” says the Lord.
“For look, I am giving a command
and I will shake the family of Israel together with all the nations.
It will resemble a sieve being shaken,
when not even a pebble falls to the ground.[p]
10 All the sinners among my people will die by the sword—
the ones who say, ‘Disaster will not come near, it will not confront us.’

The Restoration of the Davidic Dynasty

11 “In that day I will rebuild the collapsing hut[q] of David.
I will seal its[r] gaps,
repair its[s] ruins,
and restore it to what it was like in days gone by.[t]
12 As a result they[u] will conquer those left in Edom[v]
and all the nations subject to my rule.”[w]
The Lord, who is about to do this, is speaking.
13 “Be sure of this,[x] the time is[y] coming,” says the Lord,
“when the plowman will catch up to the reaper,[z]
and the one who stomps the grapes[aa] will overtake[ab] the planter.[ac]
Juice will run down the slopes;[ad]
it will flow down all the hillsides.[ae]
14 I will bring back my people, Israel;[af]
they will rebuild the cities lying in rubble[ag] and settle down.[ah]
They will plant vineyards and drink the wine they produce;[ai]
they will grow orchards[aj] and eat the fruit they produce.[ak]
15 I will plant them on their land,
and they will never again be uprooted from the[al] land I have given them,”
says the Lord your God.

John 6:41-51

41 Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus[a] began complaining about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,” 42 and they said, “Isn’t this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43 Jesus replied,[b] “Do not complain about me to one another.[c] 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him,[d] and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’[e] Everyone who hears and learns from the Father[f] comes to me. 46 (Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God—he[g] has seen the Father.)[h] 47 I tell you the solemn truth,[i] the one who believes[j] has eternal life.[k] 48 I am the bread of life.[l] 49 Your ancestors[m] ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This[n] is the bread that has come down from heaven, so that a person[o] may eat from it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats from this bread he will live forever. The bread[p] that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
