Version
Psalm 126

Psalm 126[a]

God, Our Joy and Our Hope

[b]A song of ascents.

When the Lord brought home the captives to Zion,
    we seemed to be dreaming.[c]
Our mouths were filled with laughter
and our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”[d]
The Lord has indeed done great deeds for us,
and we are overflowing with joy.[e]
[f]Once again restore our fortunes,[g]Lord,
as you did for the streams in the Negeb.
Those who sow in tears[h]
will reap with songs of joy.
Those who go forth weeping,
carrying the seeds to be sown,[i]
will return with shouts of joy,
    carrying their sheaves.

Isaiah 43:1-7

Chapter 43

Redemption and Restoration Promised

But now this is the word of the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
    and formed you, O Israel.
Have no fear, for I have redeemed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
nor will the waters engulf you.
When you walk through fire,
    you will not be burned;
the flames will not consume you.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your savior.
I give Egypt as your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba[a] in exchange for you.
Because in my eyes you are precious,
because you are honored and I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you
and nations in return for your life.
Do not be afraid, for I am with you.
I will bring your offspring from the east,
and from the west I will gather you.
I will say to the north, “Give them up,”
and to the south, “Do not hold them back.”
Bring back my sons from afar
and my daughters from the ends of the earth—
everyone who bears my name,
whom I created for my glory,
    whom I formed and made.

Philippians 2:19-24

19 Timothy Commended.[a]I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that I may be cheered by hearing news of you. 20 I have no one else like him in his genuine concern for your welfare. 21 All the others serve their own interests more than those of Jesus Christ.

22 His reputation is well known to you. Like a son helping his father, he has worked with me in the service of the gospel. 23 I hope to send him to you as soon as I see how things will go with me. 24 And I am confident in the Lord that I myself shall also come before long.
