Psalm 105:1-15

Remember His Wondrous Deeds

105 Oh (A)give thanks to Yahweh, (B)call upon His name;
(C)Make known His acts among the peoples.
Sing to Him, (D)sing praises to Him;
(E)Muse on all His wondrous deeds.
Boast in His holy name;
Let the (F)heart of those who seek Yahweh be glad.
Inquire of Yahweh and (G)His strength;
(H)Seek His face continually.
Remember His (I)wondrous deeds which He has done,
His miracles and the (J)judgments [a]uttered by His mouth,
O seed of (K)Abraham, His servant,
O sons of (L)Jacob, His (M)chosen ones!
He is Yahweh our God;
His (N)judgments are in all the earth.

He has (O)remembered His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded for a (P)thousand generations,
(Q)Which He cut with Abraham,
And His (R)oath to Isaac.
10 Then He (S)confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, “(T)To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the [b](U)portion of your inheritance,”
12 When they were only a (V)few men in number,
Of little account, and (W)sojourners in it.
13 And they wandered about from nation to nation,
From one kingdom to another people.
14 He (X)permitted no man to oppress them,
And He (Y)reproved kings for their sakes:
15 (Z)Do not touch My anointed ones,
And to My prophets do no evil.”

Psalm 105:16-41

16 And He (A)called for a famine upon the land;
He (B)broke the whole staff of bread.
17 He (C)sent a man before them,
Joseph, who was (D)sold as a slave.
18 They afflicted his (E)feet with fetters,
[a]He himself was laid in irons;
19 Until the time that his (F)word came to pass,
The word of Yahweh (G)refined him.
20 The (H)king sent and released him,
The ruler of peoples sent and set him free.
21 He (I)set him up as lord of his house
And ruler over all his possessions,
22 To [b]imprison his princes [c](J)at will,
And that he might teach his elders wisdom.
23 (K)Then Israel came to Egypt;
And Jacob (L)sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 And He (M)caused His people to be very fruitful,
And He caused them to be stronger than their adversaries.

25 He (N)turned their heart to hate His people,
To (O)deal craftily with His slaves.
26 He (P)sent Moses His servant,
And (Q)Aaron, whom He had chosen.
27 They (R)set forth the words of His signs among them,
And miracles in the land of Ham.
28 He (S)sent darkness and made it dark;
And they did not (T)rebel against His words.
29 He (U)turned their waters into blood
And caused their fish to die.
30 Their land swarmed with (V)frogs
Even in the (W)chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came a (X)swarm of flies
And (Y)gnats in all their territory.
32 He [d]gave them (Z)hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
33 He also (AA)struck down their vines and their fig trees,
And He shattered the trees of their territory.
34 He spoke, and (AB)locusts came,
And creeping locusts, without number,
35 And [e]they ate up all vegetation in their land,
And [f]they ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 He also (AC)struck down all the firstborn in their land,
The (AD)first of all their vigor.

37 Then He brought them out with (AE)silver and gold,
And there was none among His tribes who stumbled.
38 Egypt was (AF)glad when they went out,
For the (AG)dread of them had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a (AH)cloud for a [g]covering,
And (AI)fire to give light by night.
40 [h]They (AJ)asked, and He brought (AK)quail,
And He satisfied them with the [i](AL)bread of heaven.
41 He opened the [j]rock and (AM)water flowed out;
[k]It ran in the dry places like a river.

Psalm 105:42

42 For He (A)remembered His holy word
With Abraham His servant;

Exodus 33:1-6

Moses and the Tent of Meeting

33 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Go! Go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up from the land of Egypt, to the land of which (A)I swore to Abraham, (B)to Isaac, and (C)to Jacob, saying, ‘(D)To your seed I will give it.’ And I will send (E)an angel before you, and (F)I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. Go up to a land (G)flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst because you are (H)a stiff-necked people, lest (I)I consume you on the way.”

Then the people heard this [a]sad word and (J)went into mourning; and none of them put on his ornaments. So Yahweh said to Moses, “Say to the sons of Israel, ‘You are (K)a stiff-necked people; should I go up in your midst for one moment, I would consume you. So now, put off your ornaments from you, that I may know what I shall do with you.’” So the sons of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments, from Mount Horeb onward.

Romans 4:1-12

Abraham and David’s Faith Counted as Righteousness

What then shall we say that Abraham, [a]our forefather (A)according to the flesh, has found? For if Abraham was justified [b]by works, he has something to boast about—but (B)not [c]before God! For what does the Scripture say? “(C)Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who (D)works, his wage is not counted according to grace, but according to what is due. But to the one who does not work, but (E)believes upon Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:

(F)Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven,
And whose sins have been covered.
(G)Blessed is the man whose sin the [d]Lord will not (H)take into account.”

Therefore, is this blessing on [e](I)the circumcised, or on [f]the uncircumcised also? For (J)we say, “(K)Faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness.” 10 How then was it counted? While he was [g]circumcised, or [h]uncircumcised? Not while [i]circumcised, but while [j]uncircumcised; 11 and he (L)received the sign of circumcision, (M)a seal of the righteousness of the faith which [k]he had while uncircumcised, so that he might be (N)the father of (O)all who believe without being circumcised, that righteousness might be counted to them, 12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham which [l]he had while uncircumcised.
