使徒行傳 7:30-40
30 過了四十年，在西奈山的曠野，一位天使[a]在荊棘火焰中向摩西顯現。 31 摩西見了這景象[b]，感到驚奇。正當他上前要觀看的時候，有主的聲音說： 32 『我是你祖先的神，就是亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的神[c]。』[d]摩西戰戰兢兢，不敢觀看。
33 「主對他說：
『脫掉你腳上的鞋，因為你站的地方是聖地。 34 我的子民在埃及的困苦，我確實看見了；他們的呻吟，我也聽見了；於是我下來要救他們。現在你來！我要差派你到埃及去。』[e]
35 「這摩西就是他們拒絕說『誰委任你做首領和審判官』[f]的那位，神卻藉著那在荊棘中向他顯現的天使的手，差派他做首領、做救贖者。 36 這個人帶領以色列子民出來，在埃及地、在紅海，並且在曠野的四十年間，行了奇事和神蹟。

37 「這個人就是摩西，他曾告訴以色列子民：『神[g]將要從你們兄弟中給你們興起一位先知，像興起我一樣。[h]』[i] 38 這個人曾在曠野的會眾當中，與那在西奈山對他講話的天使在一起，又和我們的祖先在一起。他接受了生命的話語，把它傳給了我們。 39 我們的祖先不肯順從，反而棄絕了他，甚至在心裡轉回埃及去， 40 對亞倫說：
『為我們造一些神明在我們前面引路吧，因為帶領我們出埃及地的那個摩西，我們不知道他出了什麼事！』[j]
