Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
111 1 He giveth thanks to the Lord for his merciful works toward his Church, 10 and declareth wherein true wisdom and right knowledge consisteth.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 I will [a]praise the Lord with my whole heart in the assembly and the congregation of the just.
2 The works of the Lord are [b]great, and ought to be sought out of all them that love them.
3 His work is beautiful and glorious, and his righteousness endureth forever.
4 He hath made his wonderful works to be had in remembrance: the Lord is merciful and full of compassion.
5 He hath given [c]a [d]portion unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.
6 He hath showed to his people the power of his works, in giving unto them the heritage of the heathen.
7 The [e]works of his hands are truth and judgment: all his statutes are true.
8 They are established forever and ever, and are done in truth and equity.
9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant forever: holy and fearful is his Name.
10 [f]The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord: all they that observe [g]them, have good understanding: his praise endureth forever.
23 And I besought the Lord the same time, saying,
24 O Lord God, thou hast begun to show thy servant thy greatness and thy mighty hand: for where is there a God in heaven or in earth, that can [a]do like thy works, and like thy [b]power?
25 I pray thee let me go over and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly [c]mountain, and Lebanon.
26 But the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the Lord said unto me, Let it suffice thee, speak no more unto me of this matter.
27 Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and [d]lift up thine eyes Westward, and Northward, and Southward, and Eastward, and behold it with thine eyes, for thou shalt not go over this Jordan:
28 But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and bolden him: for he shall go before this people, and he shall divide for inheritance unto them, the land which thou shalt see.
29 So we abode in the valley over against Beth Peor.
6 (A)[a]Notwithstanding it cannot be that the word of God should take none effect: for all they are not [b]Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Neither are they all children, because they are the seed of Abraham: (B)[c]but, In [d]Isaac shall thy seed be called:
8 [e]That is, they which are the children of the [f]flesh, are not the children of God: but the (C)children of the [g]promise, are counted for the seed.
9 [h]For this is a word of promise, (D)In this same time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 [i]Neither he only felt this, but also (E)Rebecca, when she had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac.
11 For ere the children were born, and when they had neither done good nor evil (that the [j]purpose of God might [k]remain according to election, not by works, but by him that calleth.)
12 [l]It was said unto her, (F)The Elder shall serve the younger.
13 As it is written, (G)I have loved Jacob, and have hated Esau.
14 [m]What shall we say then? Is there [n]unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 [o]For he saith to Moses, (H)I will [p]have mercy on him, to whom I will show mercy: and will have [q]compassion on him, on who I will have compassion.
16 [r]So then it is not in him that [s]willeth, nor in him that runneth, but in God that showeth mercy.
17 [t]For the [u]Scripture saith unto Pharaoh, (I)For this same purpose have [v]I stirred thee up, that I might [w]show my power in thee, and that my Name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 [x]Therefore he hath mercy on whom he [y]will, and whom he will he hardeneth.
