Psalm 139:1-6

Where Can I Go from Your Spirit?

For the choir director. Of David. A Psalm.

139 O Yahweh, You have (A)searched me and known me.
You (B)know [a]when I sit down and [b]when I rise up;
You (C)understand my thought from afar.
You [c](D)scrutinize my [d]path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
[e]Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O Yahweh, You (E)know it all.
You have (F)enclosed me behind and before,
And You have (G)put Your hand upon me.
Such (H)knowledge is (I)too wonderful for me;
It is too high, I cannot attain to it.

Psalm 139:13-18

13 For You (A)formed my [a]inward parts;
You (B)wove me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give thanks to You, for [b]I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
(C)Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
15 My [c](D)frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And (E)intricately woven in the (F)depths of the earth;
16 Your (G)eyes have seen my unshaped substance;
And in (H)Your book all of them were written
The (I)days that were formed for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.

17 How precious are Your (J)thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would (K)outnumber the sand.
When (L)I awake, I am still with You.

1 Samuel 2:21-25

21 (A)Yahweh indeed visited Hannah; and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. And (B)the young boy Samuel grew before Yahweh.

Eli Hears About His Sons’ Evils

22 Now Eli was very old; and he heard (C)all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and how they lay with (D)the women who served at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 23 So he said to them, “Why do you do such things, the evil things that I hear from all these people? 24 No, my sons; for the report is not good (E)which I hear the people of Yahweh [a]passing about. 25 If one man sins against another, (F)God will mediate for him; but (G)if a man sins against Yahweh, who can pray for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for (H)Yahweh desired to put them to death.

Matthew 25:1-13

Parable of Ten Virgins

25 “Then (A)the kingdom of heaven may be compared to ten virgins, who took their (B)lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were foolish, and five were (C)prudent. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the (D)prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the (E)prudent answered, saying, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were (F)ready went in with him to (G)the wedding feast; and (H)the door was shut. 11 And later the other virgins also *came, saying, ‘(I)Lord, lord, open up for us.’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 (J)Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know the day nor the hour.
