Version
Genesis 1:1-5

Creation

(A)In the beginning (B)God (C)created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was [a](D)formless and void, and (E)darkness was over the [b]surface of the deep, and (F)the Spirit of God (G)was hovering over the [c]surface of the waters. Then (H)God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was (I)good; and God (J)separated the light from the darkness. (K)And God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And (L)there was evening and there was morning, one day.

Psalm 29

The Voice of Yahweh

A Psalm of David.

29 (A)Ascribe to Yahweh, O [a]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
Ascribe to Yahweh the glory of His name;
Worship Yahweh (B)in the splendor of holiness.

The (C)voice of Yahweh is upon the waters;
The God of glory (D)thunders,
Yahweh is over [b](E)many waters.
The voice of Yahweh is (F)powerful,
The voice of Yahweh is full of splendor.
The voice of Yahweh breaks the cedars;
Indeed, Yahweh breaks in pieces (G)the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon (H)skip like a calf,
And (I)Sirion like a young wild ox.
The voice of Yahweh hews out [c]flames of fire.
The voice of Yahweh causes the wilderness to tremble;
Yahweh causes the wilderness of (J)Kadesh to tremble.
The voice of Yahweh makes (K)the deer to calve
And strips the forests bare;
And (L)in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

10 Yahweh sat enthroned over the (M)flood;
Indeed, Yahweh sits as (N)King forever.
11 [d]Yahweh will give (O)strength to His people;
[e]Yahweh will bless His people with (P)peace.

Acts 19:1-7

Paul in Ephesus

19 Now it happened that while (A)Apollos was at (B)Corinth, Paul passed through the (C)upper regions and came to (D)Ephesus and found some disciples. And he said to them, “(E)Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “No, (F)we have not even heard if the Holy Spirit is being received.” And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” And they said, “(G)Into John’s baptism.” Then Paul said, “(H)John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people (I)to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” And when they heard this, they were (J)baptized [a]in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had (K)laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began (L)speaking with tongues and (M)prophesying. Now there were in all about twelve men.

Mark 1:4-11

[a]John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness [b](A)preaching a baptism of repentance for the (B)forgiveness of sins. And all the region of Judea was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. And John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore (C)a leather belt around his waist and was eating locusts and wild honey. And he was [c]preaching, saying, “After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the strap of His sandals. I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

The Baptism of Jesus

[d](D)Now it happened that in those days Jesus (E)came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 And immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens [e]opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; 11 and a voice came out of the heavens: “(F)You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”
