Ascribe to Yahweh Glory and Strength
96 (A)Sing to Yahweh a (B)new song;
Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.
2 Sing to Yahweh, bless His name;
(C)Proclaim good news of His salvation from day to day.
3 Recount (D)His glory among the nations,
His wondrous deeds among all the peoples.
4 For (E)great is Yahweh and (F)greatly to be praised;
He is [a]more [b](G)fearsome (H)than all gods.
5 For (I)all the gods of the peoples are [c]idols,
But (J)Yahweh made the heavens.
6 (K)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
7 [d]Ascribe to Yahweh, O (L)families of the peoples,
[e](M)Ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
8 Ascribe to Yahweh the (N)glory of His name;
Lift up [f]an (O)offering and come into His courts.
9 (P)Worship Yahweh in the splendor of holiness;
(Q)Tremble before Him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, “(R)Yahweh [g]reigns;
Indeed, the (S)world is established, it will not be shaken;
He will (T)render justice to the peoples with [h]equity.”
11 Let the (U)heavens be glad, and let the (V)earth rejoice;
Let (W)the sea [i]roar, as well as its fullness;
12 Let the (X)field exult, and all that is in it.
Then all the (Y)trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 Before Yahweh, (Z)for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
(AA)He will judge the world in righteousness
And the peoples in His faithfulness.
Yahweh Will Pour Out His Anger
8 “Therefore (A)wait for Me,” declares Yahweh,
“For the day when I rise up as a witness.
Indeed, My judgment is to (B)assemble nations,
To gather kingdoms,
To pour out on them My indignation,
All My burning anger;
For (C)all the earth will be devoured
By the fire of My zeal.
9 For then I will change them to peoples with (D)purified lips,
That all of them may (E)call on the name of Yahweh,
To serve Him [a]shoulder to shoulder.
10 From beyond the rivers of [b](F)Ethiopia
My [c]worshipers, [d]My scattered ones,
Will (G)bring My offerings.
11 In that day you will (H)feel no shame
Because of all your deeds
By which you have transgressed against Me;
For then I will remove from your midst
Your (I)proud, exulting ones,
And you will never again be haughty
On My (J)holy mountain.
12 But I will cause to remain in your midst
A [e](K)lowly and poor people,
And they will (L)take refuge in the name of Yahweh.
13 The (M)remnant of Israel will (N)do no injustice
And (O)not speak falsehood,
Nor will a deceitful tongue
Be found in their mouths;
For they will (P)feed and lie down
With no one to make them tremble.”
Faith Comes by Hearing
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of law: “(A)The man who does these things shall live by them.” 6 But (B)the righteousness of faith speaks in this way: “(C)Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will go up into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), 7 or ‘Who will go down into the (D)abyss?’ (that is, to (E)bring Christ up from the dead).” 8 But what does it say? “(F)The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 [a]that (G)if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and (H)believe in your heart that (I)God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, [b]leading to righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [c]leading to salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “(J)Whoever believes upon Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For (K)there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is (L)Lord of (M)all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him, 13 for “(N)Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
