Psalm 114

Passover Song

Psalm 114

When Israel came out of Egypt,
Jacob’s house from a people foreign-speaking,
Judah became His Sanctuary,
Israel His dominion.
The sea saw and fled,
the Jordan turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills like lambs.
Why was it, O sea, that you fled?
O Jordan, that you turned back?
O mountains, that you skipped like rams?
O hills, like lambs?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turned the rock into a pool of water,
the flint into a spring of water.

Exodus 13:17-22

Parashat Beshalach

17 After Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not lead them along the road to the land of the Philistines, although that was nearby, for God said, “The people might change their minds if they see war and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people around by the way of the wilderness to the Sea of Reeds, and Bnei-Yisrael went up out of the land of Egypt armed.

19 Moses also took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had made Bnei-Yisrael swear an oath saying, “God will surely remember you, and then you are to carry my bones away with you.”[a]

20 So they journeyed from Succoth and encamped in Etham, on the edge of the wilderness. 21 Adonai went before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead the way and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light. So they could travel both day and night. [b] 22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night never departed from the people.

1 John 3:11-16

11 For this is the message you have heard from the beginning—we should love one another. 12 Do not be like Cain, who was from the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his deeds were evil, while his brother’s were righteous. [a] 13 Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.

14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers and sisters. The one who does not love remains in death. 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer—and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 16 We have come to know love by this—Yeshua laid down His life for us, and we also ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
