Psalm 8

Psalm 8

For the Music Director. According to The Gittith. A Psalm of David.

O Lord, our Lord,
how excellent is Your name in all the earth!

You have set Your glory
    above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
    You have ordained strength
because of Your enemies,
to silence the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider Your heavens,
    the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
    which You have established,
what is man that You are mindful of him,
and the son of man that You attend to him?

For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You have given him dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the air,
and the fish of the sea,
and whatever travels the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord,
how excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Exodus 2:11-15

11 In those days, when Moses was grown, he went out to his brothers and looked on their burdens; and he saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers. 12 He looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 When he went out the next day, two men of the Hebrews struggled with each other; and he said to him that did the wrong, “Why do you strike your companion?”

14 He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses feared and said, “Surely this thing is known.”

Moses Flees to Midian

15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the presence of Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, and he dwelled by a well.

Romans 11:33-36

33 O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!
    How unsearchable are His judgments
    and unfathomable are His ways!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has become His counselor?”[a]
35 “Or who has first given to Him,
and it shall be repaid to him?”[b]
36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
To Him be glory forever! Amen.
