Psalm 105:1-11

Psalm 105(A)

Oh, give thanks unto the Lord; call upon His name;
    make known His deeds among the peoples.
Sing unto Him, sing praises unto Him;
    proclaim all His wondrous works.
Glory in His holy name;
    let the heart rejoice for those who seek the Lord.
Seek the Lord and His strength;
    seek His presence continuously.

Remember His marvelous works that He has done;
    His wonders and the judgments from His mouth,
O offspring of Abraham, His servant,
    O children of Jacob, His chosen ones.
He is the Lord our God;
    His judgments are in all the earth.

He remembers His covenant forever,
    the word that He commanded, to a thousand generations,
that covenant He made with Abraham,
    and His oath to Isaac,
10 and confirmed to Jacob as a decree,
    and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
11 saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
    as the portion of your inheritance.”

Psalm 105:45

45 that they might observe His statutes
    and keep His laws.

Praise the Lord!

Genesis 29:1-8

Jacob Meets Rachel

29 Then Jacob went on his journey and came into the land of the people of the east. As he looked, he saw a well in the field and three flocks of sheep lying by it, for out of that well the flocks were watered. A large stone was on the well’s opening. When all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds rolled the stone from the well’s opening, watered the sheep, then put the stone back on the well’s opening in its place.

Jacob said to them, “My brothers, where are you from?”

And they said, “We are from Harran.”

Then he said to them, “Do you know Laban the son of Nahor?”

And they said, “We know him.”

He said to them, “Is he well?”

And they said, “He is well, and here is Rachel his daughter coming with the sheep.”

He said, “Since it is yet midday, it is not the time that the livestock should be gathered together. Water the sheep, and go and feed them.”

They said, “We cannot until all the flocks are gathered together and the stone is rolled from the well’s opening. Then we may water the sheep.”

1 Corinthians 4:14-20

14 I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 15 For if you were to have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers. In Christ Jesus I have become a father to you through the gospel. 16 So I implore you, be followers of me. 17 Therefore I have sent Timothy to you. He is my beloved son and is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.

18 Now some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you shortly if the Lord wills. And I will know not only what those who are arrogant are saying, but also their power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
