Psalm 47

¹⁵ The angel of Adonai called to Abraham a second time from heaven ¹⁶ and said, “By myself I swear—it is a declaration of Adonai—because you have done this thing, and you did not withhold your son, your only son, ^{[a] 17} I will richly bless you and bountifully multiply your seed like the stars of heaven, and like the sand that is on the seashore, and your seed will possess the gate of his enemies. ¹⁸ In your seed all the nations of the earth will be blessed—because you obeyed My voice.”^[b]

⁹ Now concerning brotherly love, you have no need for anyone to write you—for you yourselves are taught by God^[a] to love one another. ¹⁰ In fact, you even practice it toward all your brothers and sisters throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to keep progressing more and more ¹¹ and aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, just as we directed you— ¹² so you may behave properly toward outsiders and not have need of anything.
