Psalm 86:1-10

To You, O Lord, I Lift Up My Soul

A Prayer of David.

86 (A)Incline Your ear, O Yahweh, and answer me;
For I am (B)afflicted and needy.
(C)Keep my [a]soul, for I am a (D)holy one;
O You my God, save Your slave who (E)trusts in You.
Be (F)gracious to me, O Lord,
For (G)to You I call all day long.
Make glad the soul of Your slave,
For to You, O Lord, (H)I lift up my soul.
For You, Lord, are (I)good, and (J)by nature forgiving,
And (K)abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You.
(L)Give ear, O Yahweh, to my prayer;
And give heed to the voice of my supplications!
In (M)the day of my distress I shall call upon You,
For (N)You will answer me.
There is (O)no one like You among the gods, O Lord,
Nor are there any works (P)like Yours.
(Q)All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord,
And they shall glorify Your name.
10 For You are (R)great and (S)do [b]wondrous deeds;
You alone (T)are God.

Genesis 35:1-4

Jacob Goes Up to Bethel

35 Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to (A)Bethel and [a]live there, and make an altar there to (B)God, who appeared to you (C)when you fled [b]from your brother Esau.” So Jacob said to his (D)household and to all who were with him, “Put away (E)the foreign gods which are among you and (F)cleanse yourselves and change your garments; and let us arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make (G)an altar there to God, (H)who answered me in the day of my distress and (I)has been with me [c]wherever I have gone.” So they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods which [d]they had and the rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the [e]oak which was near Shechem.

Acts 5:17-26

The Apostles Jailed and Freed

17 But the high priest rose up and those with him (that is (A)the sect of (B)the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy. 18 And they laid hands on the apostles and (C)put them in a public jail. 19 But during the night (D)an angel of the [a]Lord opened the doors of the prison, and taking them out, he said, 20 “Go, stand and [b]speak to the people in the temple [c](E)the whole message of this Life.” 21 Upon hearing this, they entered into the temple (F)about daybreak and began to teach.

Now when (G)the high priest and those with him came, they called (H)the Sanhedrin together, even all the Council of the sons of Israel, and sent orders to the jailhouse for them to be brought. 22 But (I)the officers who came did not find them in the prison, and they returned and reported back, 23 saying, “We found the jailhouse locked quite securely and the guards standing at the doors, but we opened it and found no one inside.” 24 Now when (J)the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests heard these words, they were greatly perplexed about them as to what [d]would come of this. 25 But someone came and reported to them, “The men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!” 26 Then (K)the captain went along with (L)the officers and proceeded to bring them back without violence (for (M)they were afraid of the people, that they might be stoned).
