Version
Psalm 126

Psalm 126[a]

A song of ascents.[b]

126 When the Lord restored the well-being of Zion,[c]
we thought we were dreaming.[d]
At that time we laughed loudly
and shouted for joy.[e]
At that time the nations said,[f]
“The Lord has accomplished great things for these people.”
The Lord did indeed accomplish great things for us.
We were happy.
O Lord, restore our well-being,
just as the streams in the arid south are replenished.[g]
Those who shed tears as they plant
will shout for joy when they reap the harvest.[h]
The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag[i] of seed,
will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain.[j]

Genesis 25:7-11

Abraham lived a total of[a] 175 years. Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man who had lived a full life.[b] He joined his ancestors.[c] His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah[d] near Mamre, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar, the Hittite.[e] 10 This was the field Abraham had purchased from the sons of Heth.[f] There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah. 11 After Abraham’s death, God blessed[g] his son Isaac. Isaac lived near Beer Lahai Roi.[h]

2 Thessalonians 2:13-3:5

Call to Stand Firm

13 But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters[a] loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning[b] for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14 He called you to this salvation[c] through our gospel, so that you may possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.[d] 15 Therefore, brothers and sisters,[e] stand firm and hold on to the traditions that we taught you, whether by speech or by letter.[f] 16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you[g] in every good thing you do or say.[h]

Request for Prayer

Finally, pray for us, brothers and sisters,[i] that the Lord’s message[j] may spread quickly and be honored[k] as in fact it was among you, and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil people. For not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he[l] will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. And we are confident about you in the Lord that you are both doing—and will do—what we are commanding. Now may the Lord direct your hearts toward the love of God[m] and the endurance of Christ.[n]
