Psalm 119:17-32

Gimel

17 (A)Deal bountifully with your servant,
    (B)that I may live and keep your word.
18 Open my eyes, that I may behold
    wondrous things out of your law.
19 I am (C)a sojourner on the earth;
    (D)hide not your commandments from me!
20 My soul is consumed with (E)longing
    for your rules[a] at all times.
21 You rebuke (F)the insolent, (G)accursed ones,
    who (H)wander from your commandments.
22 Take away from me (I)scorn and contempt,
    (J)for I have kept your testimonies.
23 Even though (K)princes sit plotting against me,
    your servant will (L)meditate on your statutes.
24 Your testimonies are my (M)delight;
    they are my (N)counselors.

Daleth

25 (O)My soul clings to the dust;
    (P)give me life (Q)according to your word!
26 When (R)I told of my ways, you answered me;
    (S)teach me your statutes!
27 (T)Make me understand the way of your precepts,
    and I will (U)meditate on your wondrous works.
28 (V)My soul melts away for sorrow;
    strengthen me according to your word!
29 Put false ways far from me
    and graciously (W)teach me your law!
30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness;
    I (X)set your rules before me.
31 I cling to your testimonies, O Lord;
    (Y)let me not be put to shame!
32 I will run in the way of your commandments
    when you (Z)enlarge my heart![b]

Amos 9:5-15

The Lord God of hosts,
he who touches the earth and (A)it melts,
    and all who dwell in it mourn,
(B)and all of it rises like the Nile,
    (C)and sinks again, like the Nile of Egypt;
(D)who builds his upper chambers in the heavens
    and founds his vault upon the earth;
(E)who calls for the waters of the sea
    and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—
(F)the Lord is his name.

“Are you not like (G)the Cushites to me,
    O people of Israel?” declares the Lord.
(H)“Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt,
    and (I)the Philistines from (J)Caphtor and the Syrians from (K)Kir?
Behold, (L)the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom,
    and I will destroy it from the surface of the ground,
    (M)except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,”
declares the Lord.

“For behold, I will command,
    (N)and shake the house of Israel among all the nations
as one shakes with a sieve,
    but no pebble shall fall to the earth.
10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword,
    who say, (O)‘Disaster shall not overtake or meet us.’

The Restoration of Israel

11 “In that day (P)I will raise up
    the booth of David that is fallen
and repair its breaches,
    and raise up its ruins
    and rebuild it as in the days of old,
12 (Q)that they may possess the remnant of Edom
    and (R)all the nations who are called by my name,”[a]
    declares the Lord who does this.

13 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord,
    (S)“when the plowman shall overtake the reaper
    and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed;
(T)the mountains shall drip sweet wine,
    and all the hills shall flow with it.
14 (U)I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel,
    and (V)they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them;
(W)they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine,
    and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.
15 (X)I will plant them on their land,
    (Y)and they shall never again be uprooted
    out of the land (Z)that I have given them,”
says the Lord your God.

John 6:41-51

41 So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, (A)“I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, (B)“Is not this Jesus, (C)the son of Joseph, whose father and mother (D)we know? How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me (E)draws him. And (F)I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, (G)‘And they will all be (H)taught by God.’ (I)Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me— 46 (J)not that anyone has seen the Father except (K)he who is from God; he (L)has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, (M)whoever believes has eternal life. 48 (N)I am the bread of life. 49 (O)Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and (P)they died. 50 (Q)This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it (R)and not die. 51 I am the living bread (S)that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give (T)for the life of the world is (U)my flesh.”
