Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Psalm 93
God’s Eternal Reign
1 The Lord reigns! He is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed, enveloped in strength.
The world is firmly established;
it cannot be shaken.(A)
2 Your throne has been established
from the beginning;[a]
you are from eternity.(B)
3 The floods have lifted up, Lord,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their pounding waves.(C)
4 Greater than the roar of a huge torrent—
the mighty breakers of the sea—
the Lord on high is majestic.(D)
16 Other Benjaminites and men from Judah also went to David at the stronghold.(A) 17 David went out to meet them and said to them, “If you have come in peace to help me, my heart will be united with you, but if you have come to betray me to my enemies even though my hands have done no wrong, may the God of our ancestors look on it and judge.”
18 Then the Spirit enveloped[a](B) Amasai,(C) chief of the Thirty, and he said:
We are yours, David,
we are with you, son of Jesse!
Peace, peace to you,
and peace to him who helps you,(D)
for your God helps you.
So David received them and made them leaders of his troops.
19 Some Manassites defected to David when he went with the Philistines to fight against Saul. However, they did not help the Philistines because the Philistine rulers sent David away after a discussion. They said, “It will be our heads if he defects to his master Saul.”(E) 20 When David went to Ziklag, some men from Manasseh defected to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh. 21 They helped David against the raiders,(F) for they were all valiant warriors and commanders in the army. 22 At that time, men came day after day to help David until there was a great army, like an army of God.[b](G)
5 Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words[a] are faithful and true.”(A) 6 Then he said to me, “It is done!(B) I am the Alpha and the Omega,(C) the beginning and the end.(D) I will freely give to the thirsty(E) from the spring of the water of life.(F) 7 The one who conquers(G) will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son.(H) 8 But the cowards, faithless,[b] detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars(I)—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur,(J) which is the second death.”(K)
The New Jerusalem
9 Then one of the seven angels, who had held the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues,(L) came and spoke with me: “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 He then carried me away in the Spirit[c](M) to a great, high mountain(N) and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 arrayed with God’s glory.(O) Her radiance was like a precious jewel, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 The city had a massive high wall, with twelve gates. Twelve angels were at the gates; the names of the twelve tribes of Israel’s sons were inscribed on the gates. 13 There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.(P) 14 The city wall had twelve foundations, and the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb were on the foundations.
