Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
55 “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters; and he that hath no money, come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Why do ye spend money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto Me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto Me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for He hath glorified thee.”
6 Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” saith the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
63 O God, Thou art my God; early will I seek Thee. My soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee, in a dry and thirsty land where no water is,
2 to see Thy power and Thy glory as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary.
3 Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise Thee.
4 Thus will I bless Thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness and my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips,
6 when I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches.
7 Because Thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice.
8 My soul followeth hard after Thee; Thy right hand upholdeth me.
10 Moreover, brethren, I would not have ye ignorant of how all of our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,
2 and all were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
3 And all ate the same spiritual meat,
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed — and three and twenty thousand fell in one day.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted — and were destroyed by serpents.
10 Neither should ye murmur, as some of them also murmured — and were destroyed by the destroyer.
11 Now all these things happened unto them by way of example, and are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Therefore let him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken hold of you but such as is common to man. But God is faithful; He will not suffer you to be tempted beyond that which ye are able to bear, but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
13 There were present at that season some who told Him of the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, “Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, nay; but unless ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen upon whom the tower of Siloam fell and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all other men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, nay; but unless ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
6 He spoke also this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Behold, these three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down. Why cumbereth it the ground?’
8 And he answering said unto him, ‘Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig around it and dung it.
9 And if it bear fruit, well; and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.’”
