Psalm 63:1-8

Psalm 63[a]

Thirst for God

A psalm of David. When he was in the wilderness of Judah.[b]

O God, you are my God,
    for whom I have been searching earnestly.[c]
My soul yearns for you
    and my body thirsts for you,
like the earth when it is parched,
    arid and without water.
I have gazed upon you in the sanctuary
    so that I may behold your power[d] and your glory.
Your kindness[e] is a greater joy than life itself;
    thus my lips will speak your praise.
I will bless you all my life;
    with uplifted hands[f] I will call on your name.
My soul[g] will be satisfied as at a banquet
    and with rejoicing lips my mouth will praise you.
I think of you while I lie upon my bed,[h]
    and I meditate on you during the watches of the night.
For you are my help,
    and in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.[i]

Daniel 12:1-4

Chapter 12

“At that time there shall arise
    Michael, the great prince,
    the guardian of your people.
Then there will be a period
    that will be unsurpassed in distress
    since nations first came into existence.
At that time your own people will be spared,
    everyone whose names are found written in the book.
“Many of those shall awake
    who sleep in the dust of the earth.
Some shall gain everlasting life;
    others will earn shame and everlasting disgrace.
However, the wise will shine
    like the brightness of the heavens,
and those who lead many to righteousness
    will be as bright as the stars forever and ever.
As for you, Daniel,
    keep these words secret,
    and seal the book until the time of the end.
Many shall fall away,
    and evils shall increase.”

Revelation 3:1-6

Chapter 3

To Sardis.[a] “To the angel of the Church in Sardis,[b] write:

“ ‘These are the words of the one who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars:

“ ‘ “I know your deeds. You have a reputation for being alive, but you are dead. Be on guard and strengthen what remains and is at the point of death. For I have not found any of your deeds perfect in the sight of my God. Therefore, remember the teaching that you have received and heard. Hold on to it and repent. If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will never know at what hour I will come upon you.

“ ‘ “However, there are still a few in Sardis who have not soiled their robes, and they will walk with me dressed in white, for they are worthy. Anyone who is victorious will be dressed like these in white robes, and I shall not blot his name from the book of life.[c] Rather, I shall acknowledge it in the presence of my Father and his angels.

“ ‘ “Whoever has ears should listen to what the Spirit says to the Churches.” ’
