Mary’s Praise

46 And Mary said:

My soul magnifies the Lord,(A)
47 and my spirit rejoices(B) in God my Savior,(C)
48 because he has looked with favor
on the humble condition of his servant.
Surely, from now on all generations
will call me blessed,(D)
49 because the Mighty One(E)
has done great things for me,(F)
and his name(G) is holy.
50 His mercy is from generation to generation(H)
on those who fear him.
51 He has done a mighty deed with his arm;(I)
he has scattered the proud
because of the thoughts of their hearts;(J)
52 he has toppled the mighty from their thrones
and exalted the lowly.(K)
53 He has satisfied the hungry with good things(L)
and sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering his mercy
55 to Abraham and his descendants[a] forever,(M)
just as he spoke to our ancestors.

Micah 4:6-8

On that day—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
I will assemble the lame
and gather the scattered,(A)
those I have injured.
I will make the lame into a remnant,(B)
those far removed into a strong nation.
Then the Lord will reign over them(C) in Mount Zion
from this time on and forever.
And you, watchtower for the flock,(D)
fortified hill[a] of Daughter Zion,
the former rule(E) will come to you;
sovereignty will come to Daughter Jerusalem.

2 Peter 1:16-21

The Trustworthy Prophetic Word

16 For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;(A) instead, we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.(B) 17 For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying “This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well-pleased!” (C) 18 We ourselves heard this voice when it came from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain.(D) 19 We also have the prophetic word strongly confirmed, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place,(E) until the day dawns(F) and the morning star(G) rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you know this: No prophecy of Scripture comes from the prophet’s own interpretation, 21 because no prophecy ever came by the will of man;(H) instead, men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.(I)
