Psalm 104:1-9

Psalm 104

God the Creator

My soul, bless the Lord!
Lord my God, you are very great;
you are clothed with majesty and splendor.(A)
He wraps himself in light as if it were a robe,
spreading out the sky like a canopy,(B)
laying the beams of his palace
on the waters above,(C)
making the clouds his chariot,(D)
walking on the wings of the wind,(E)
and making the winds his messengers,[a]
flames of fire his servants.(F)

He established the earth on its foundations;
it will never be shaken.(G)
You covered it with the deep
as if it were a garment;
the water stood above the mountains.(H)
At your rebuke the water fled;
at the sound of your thunder they hurried away(I)
mountains rose and valleys sank[b]
to the place you established for them.(J)
You set a boundary they cannot cross;
they will never cover the earth again.(K)

Psalm 104:24

24 How countless are your works, Lord!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.[a](A)

Psalm 104:35

35 May sinners vanish from the earth
and wicked people be no more.(A)
My soul, bless the Lord!
Hallelujah!

Job 36:1-16

36 Then Elihu continued, saying:

Be patient with me a little longer, and I will inform you,
for there is still more to be said on God’s behalf.
I will get my knowledge from a distant place
and ascribe justice to my Maker.
Indeed, my words are not false;
one who has complete knowledge is with you.

Yes, God is mighty, but he despises no one;
he understands all things.[a](A)
He does not keep the wicked alive,(B)
but he gives justice to the oppressed.
He does not withdraw his gaze from the righteous,
but he seats them forever with enthroned kings,
and they are exalted.

If people are bound with chains
and trapped by the cords of affliction,
God tells them what they have done
and how arrogantly they have transgressed.
10 He opens their ears(C) to correction
and tells them to repent from iniquity.
11 If they listen and serve him,
they will end their days in prosperity
and their years in happiness.(D)
12 But if they do not listen,
they will cross the river of death[b]
and die without knowledge.(E)

13 Those who have a godless heart harbor anger;
even when God binds them, they do not cry for help.
14 They die in their youth;
their life ends among male cult prostitutes.(F)
15 God rescues the afflicted by their affliction;
he instructs them by their torment.

16 Indeed, he lured you from the jaws[c] of distress
to a spacious and unconfined place.
Your table was spread with choice food.

Romans 15:7-13

Glorifying God Together

Therefore welcome one another,(A) just as[a] Christ also welcomed you, to the glory of God. For I say that Christ became a servant of the circumcised[b] on behalf of God’s truth,(B) to confirm the promises to the fathers,(C) and so that Gentiles(D) may glorify God for his mercy.(E) As it is written,

Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles,
and I will sing praise to your name.[c](F)

10 Again it says, Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people![d](G) 11 And again,

Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;
let all the peoples praise him![e](H)

12 And again, Isaiah says,

The root of Jesse(I) will appear,
the one who rises to rule the Gentiles;
the Gentiles will hope in him.[f](J)

13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe(K) so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.(L)
