Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
19 The heavens declare the Glory of God, and the firmament shows the work of His Hands.
2 Day unto day utters the same, and night unto night teaches knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line has gone forth through all the earth; and their words into the ends of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the Sun,
5 which comes forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoices like a mighty man to run his race.
6 His going out is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit is to the ends of the same, and nothing is hidden from the heat thereof.
7 The Law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the LORD is sure and gives wisdom to the simple.
8 The Statutes of the LORD are right and rejoice the heart. The Commandment of the LORD is pure and gives light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean and endures forever. The judgments of the LORD are truth. They are righteous altogether,
10 and more to be desired than gold—yea, than much fine gold—sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them your servant is made circumspect, and in the keeping of them there is great reward.
12 Who can understand his faults? Cleanse me from secret faults.
13 Keep your servant from presumptuous sins, also. Do not let them reign over me. So, shall I be upright and made clean from much wickedness.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD my strength, and my redeemer. To him who excels. A Psalm of David.
15 A soft answer puts away wrath. But grievous words stir up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly. But the mouth of fools babbles out foolishness.
3 The eyes of the LORD behold the evil and the good, in every place.
4 A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life. But the perversity thereof is the breaking of the mind.
5 A fool despises his father’s instruction. But he who regards correction is prudent.
6 The house of the righteous has much treasure. But in the revenue of the wicked is trouble.
7 The lips of the wise scatter knowledge; but the heart of the foolish, not so.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the LORD. But the prayer of the righteous is acceptable to Him.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD. But He loves him who follows righteousness.
10 Instruction is evil to him who forsakes the Way. And he who hates correction, shall die.
11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD; how much more the hearts of the sons of men?
12 A scoffer does not love him who rebukes him; nor will he go to the wise.
13 A joyful heart makes a cheerful countenance. But by the sorrow of the heart the mind is heavy.
14 The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge. But the mouth of the fool is fed with foolishness.
15 All the days of the afflicted are evil. But a good conscience is a continual feast.
16 Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
17 Better is a dinner of green herbs where there is love, than a fatted ox and hatred therewith.
17 By faith, Abraham - when he was tried - offered up Isaac. And he who had received the promises offered his only begotten son
18 (to whom it was said, “In Isaac shall your seed be called.”)
19 For he considered that God was able to raise him up - even from the dead - from where He received him also, figuratively.
20 By faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21 By faith, Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph worshipping at the end of his staff.
22 By faith, Joseph, when he died, mentioned the departing of the children of Israel and gave commandment about his bones.
