Psalm 100

A psalm of thanksgiving

Give Thanks to the Lord

100 Shout to the Lord all the earth!
Serve the Lord with joy.
        Come before him with a joyful shout!
Acknowledge that the Lord is God.
    He made us and we belong to him;
we are his people
    and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise.
Thank him and bless his name,
for the Lord is good
        and his gracious love stands forever.
His faithfulness remains from generation to generation.

Isaiah 40:1-11

God Comforts His People

40 “Comfort! Yes, comfort my people,”
    says your God.
“Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
    and proclaim to her
that her heavy service has been completed,
    that her penalty has been paid,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
    double for all her sins.”

A voice cries out:
    ‘In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord;
        and[a] in the desert a straight highway for our God.’
Every valley will be lifted up,
    and every mountain and hill will be lowered;
the rough ground will become level,
    and the mountain ridges made a plain.
Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
    and all humanity will see it at once;
        for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

The Word of God Endures Forever

A voice says, “Cry out!”
    So I[b] asked, “What am I to cry out?”

“All humanity is grass,
    and all its loyalty[c] is like the flowers of the field.
Grass withers and flowers fade away
    when the Lord’s breath blows on them;
        surely the people are like grass.[d]
Grass withers and flowers fade away,
    when the Lord’s breath blows on them,
        but the word of[e] our God will stand forever.”

Here is Your God

“Climb up a high mountain,
    you messenger of good news to Zion!
Lift up your voice with strength,
    you messenger to Jerusalem!
Lift it up!
    Don’t be afraid!
Say to the towns of Judah,
    ‘Here is your God!’
10 Look! The Lord God comes with strength,
    and his arm[f] rules for him.
Look! His reward is with him,
    and his payment accompanies him.
11 Like a shepherd, he tends his flock.
    He gathers the lambs in his arms,
carries them close to his heart,
    and gently leads the mother sheep.”

Revelation 22:1-9

The Vision of the River of the Water of Life

22 Then the angel[a] showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal. It was flowing from the throne of God and the lamb. Between the city street and the river, the tree of life was visible from each side. It produced twelve kinds of fruit, each month having its own fruit. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. There will no longer be any curse. The throne of God and the lamb will be in the city.[b] His servants will worship him and see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night, and they will not need any light from lamps or the sun because the Lord God will shine on them. They will rule forever and ever.

He is Coming Soon

He told me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord God of the spirits and of the prophets has sent his messenger[c] to show his servants the things that must happen soon.”

“See! I am coming soon! How blessed is the person who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book!”

The Vision of an Exhortation to Worship God

I, John, heard and saw these things. When I had heard and seen them, I bowed down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing me these things. But he told me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you, your brothers the prophets, and those who keep the words in this book. Worship God!”
