12 ¶ Then Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest unto me, Lead this people forth, and thou hast not showed me whom thou wilt send with me: thou hast said moreover, I know thee by [a]name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, and that I may find grace in thy sight: consider also that this nation is thy people.
14 And he answered, My [b][c]presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
15 Then he said unto him, If thy presence go not with us, carry us not hence.
16 And wherein now shall it be known, that I and thy people have found favor in thy sight? shall it not be when thou goest with us? so I, and thy people shall have preeminence before all the people that are upon the earth.
17 And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this also that thou hast said: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18 Again he said, I beseech thee, show me thy [d]glory.
19 And he answered, I will make all my [e]good go before thee, and I will [f]proclaim the Name of the Lord before thee: (A)for I will show [g]mercy to whom I will show mercy, and will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
20 Furthermore he said, Thou canst not see my face, for there shall no man see me, and [h]live.
21 Also the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by [i]me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock:
22 And while my glory passeth by, I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with mine hand while I pass by.
23 After I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my [j]back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
99 1 He commendeth the power, equity, and excellency of the kingdom of God by Christ over the Jews and Gentiles, 5 And provoketh them to magnify the same, and to serve the Lord, 6 following the example of the ancient fathers, Moses, Aaron, Samuel, who calling upon God, were heard in their prayers.
1 The Lord reigneth, let the [a]people tremble: he sitteth between the (A)Cherubims, let the earth be moved.
2 The Lord is great in Zion, and he is high above all the people.
3 They shall [b]praise thy great and fearful Name (for it is holy.)
4 And the King’s power, that loveth judgment: for thou hast prepared equity: thou hast executed judgment and justice in Jacob.
5 Exalt the Lord our God, and fall down before his [c]footstool: for he is holy.
6 Moses and Aaron were among his Priests, [d]and Samuel among such as call upon his Name: these called upon the Lord, and he heard them.
7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the Law that he gave them.
8 Thou heardest them, O Lord our God: thou wast a favorable God unto them, though thou didst take vengeance for [e]their inventions.
9 Exalt the Lord our God and fall down before his holy Mountain: for the Lord our God is holy.
The First Epistle of Paul to the Thessalonians
1 1 He therefore beginneth with thanksgiving, 4 to put them in mind that whatsoever was praiseworthy in them, it came of God’s goodness: 7 and that they are ensamples unto others.
1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the Church of the Thessalonians, which is in God the Father, and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be with you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 [a]We give God thanks always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.
3 [b]Without ceasing, remembering your effectual faith, and diligent love, and the patience of your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God, even our Father,
4 Knowing, beloved brethren, that ye are [c]elect of God.
5 [d]For our Gospel was not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in [e]much assurance, as ye know after what manner we were among you for your sakes.
6 [f]And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, and received the word in much affliction, with [g]joy of the holy Ghost,
7 So that ye were as ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.
8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord, not in Macedonia and in Achaia only: but your faith also which is toward God, spread abroad in all quarters, that we need not to speak anything.
9 For [h]they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, [i]and how ye turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God.
10 And to look for his son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus which delivereth us from [j]that wrath to come.
15 ¶ (A)Then went the Pharisees and took counsel how they might [a]tangle him in talk.
16 And they sent unto him their disciples with the [b]Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God [c]truly, neither carest for any man: for thou considerest not the [d]person of men.
17 [e]Tell us therefore, how thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give [f]tribute unto Caesar, or not?
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
19 Show me the tribute money. And they brought him a [g]penny.
20 And he said unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 They said unto him, Caesar’s. Then said he unto them, (B)Give therefore to Caesar, the things which are Caesar’s, and give unto God, those things which are God’s.
22 And when they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went their way.
