37 2 Joseph accuseth his brethren. 5 He dreameth and is hated of his brethren. 28 They sell him to the Ishmaelites. 34 Jacob bewaileth Joseph.
1 Jacob now dwelt in the land, wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
2 These are the [a]generations of Jacob when Joseph was seventeen years old, he kept sheep with his brethren, and the child was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives, And Joseph brought unto their father their evil [b][c]saying.
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, because he begat him in his old age and he made him a coat of many [d]colors.
4 So when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, then they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
12 ¶ Then his brethren went to keep their father’s sheep in Shechem.
13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren keep in Shechem? come and I will send thee to them.
14 And he answered him, I am here. Then he said unto him, Go now, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and how the flocks prosper, and bring me word again: so he sent him from the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
15 ¶ Then a man found him: for lo, he was wandering in the field, and the man asked him, saying, what seekest thou?
16 And he answered, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they keep sheep.
17 And the man said, they are departed hence: for I heard them say, Let us go unto Dothan. Then went Joseph after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came at them, they [a]conspired against him for to slay him.
19 For they said one to another, Behold, this [b]dreamer cometh.
20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, A wicked beast hath devoured him: then we shall see, what will come of his dreams.
21 (A)But when Reuben heard that, he delivered him out of their hands, and said, [c]Let us not kill him.
22 Also Reuben said unto them, Shed not blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him. Thus he said, that he might deliver him out of their hand, and restore him to his father.
23 ¶ Now when Joseph was come unto his brethren, they stripped Joseph out of his coat, his parti-colored coat that was upon him.
24 And they took him, and cast [d]him into a pit, and the pit was empty, without water in it.
25 Then they sat them down to eat bread: and lift up their eyes and looked, and behold, there came a company of Ishmaelites from Gilead, and their camels laden with spicery, and [e]balm, and myrrh, and were going to carry it down into Egypt.
26 Then Judah said to his brethren, What availeth it, if we slay our brother, though we keep his blood secret?
27 Come and let us (B)sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hands be upon him: for he is our brother, and our flesh: and his brethren obeyed.
28 Then the [f]Midianites’ merchant men passed by, and they drew forth, and lift Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver: who brought Joseph into Egypt.
105 1 He praiseth the singular grace of God, who hath of all the people of the world chosen a peculiar people to himself, and having chosen them, never ceaseth to do them good, even for his promise’s sake.
1 Praise the Lord, and call upon his Name: [a]declare his works among the people.
2 Sing unto him, sing praise unto him, and talk of all his wondrous works.
3 Rejoice in his holy Name, let the heart of them that seek the Lord, rejoice.
4 Seek the Lord and his [b]strength: seek his face continually.
5 Remember his [c]marvelous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the [d]judgments of his mouth,
6 Ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob, which are his elect.
16 Moreover, he called a famine upon the land, and utterly brake the [a]staff of bread.
17 But he sent a man before them: Joseph was sold for a slave.
18 They held his feet in the stocks, and he was laid in irons,
19 Until [b]his appointed time came, and the counsel of the Lord had tried him.
20 The King sent and loosed him: even the Ruler of the people delivered him.
21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance,
22 That he should bind his [c]princes unto his will, and teach his Ancients wisdom.
45 That they might [a]keep his statutes, and observe his Laws. Praise ye the Lord.
5 [a]For Moses thus describeth the righteousness which is of the Law, (A)That the man which doeth these things, shall live thereby.
6 But the righteousness which is of faith, speaketh on this wise, (B)[b]Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is to bring Christ from above.)
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is to bring Christ again from the dead.)
8 [c]But what saith it? (C)The [d]word is near thee, even in thy mouth, and in thine heart. This is the word of faith which we preach.
9 [e]For if thou shalt [f]confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart, that [g]God raised him up from the dead, thou shalt be saved:
10 For with the heart man [h]believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth man confesseth to salvation.
11 [i]For the Scripture saith, (D)Whosoever [j]believeth in him, shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Grecian: for he that is Lord over all, is rich unto all that call on him.
13 (E)[k]For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord, shall be saved.
14 But how shall they call on him, in whom they have not believed? [l]and how shall they believe in him, of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, (F)How beautiful are the feet of them which bring glad tidings of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
22 ¶ And straightway Jesus compelled his disciples to enter into a ship, and to go over before him, while he sent the multitude away.
23 And as soon as he had sent the multitude away, he went up into a mountain alone to pray: and (A)when the evening was come, he was there alone.
24 [a]And the ship was now in the midst of the sea, and was tossed with waves: for it was a contrary wind.
25 And in the [b]fourth watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
26 And when his disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a [c]spirit, and cried out for fear.
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good comfort, It is I: be not afraid.
28 [d]Then Peter answered him, and said, Master, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw a mighty wind, he was afraid: and as he began to sink, he cried, saying, Master, save me.
31 So immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said to him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt.
32 And as soon as they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then they that were in the ship, came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
