Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
22 And he rose up the same night and took his two wives, and his two maids, and his eleven children, and went over the ford, Jabbok.
23 And he took them, and sent them over the river, and sent over what he had.
24 Now, when Jacob was left by himself, a man wrestled with him until daybreak.
25 And he saw that he could not prevail against him. Therefore, the man touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was dislocated as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, “Let me go, for the morning appears.” Who answered, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”
27 Then he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.”
28 And he said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel. Because you have had power with God, you shall also prevail with men.”
29 And Jacob demanded, saying, “Please tell me Your Name.” And he said, “Why do you ask My Name now?” And he blessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place, Peniel. “For,” he said, “I have seen God face to face; and my life is preserved.”
31 And the Sun rose up to him as he passed Peniel; and he limped upon his thigh.
17 Hear what is right, O LORD. Consider my cry. Hear my prayer of unfeigned lips.
2 Let my sentence come forth from Your presence. And let Your eyes behold equity.
3 You have tested and visited my heart in the night. You have tried me and found nothing. For I have purposed that my mouth should not offend.
4 Concerning the works of men, by the words of Your lips I kept myself from the paths of the cruel man.
5 Keep my steps in Your paths, so that my feet do not slide.
6 I have called upon You. Surely You will hear me, O God. Incline Your ear to me and hear my words.
7 Show Your marvelous mercies, You Who are the Savior of those who trust in You from such as resist Your right hand.
15 But I will behold Your face in righteousness. And when I awake, I shall be satisfied with Your image. To him who excels: A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD. Who spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies (and from the hand of Saul) and said,
9 I say the truth in Christ. I do not lie; my conscience bearing me witness in the holy Ghost,
2 so that I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
3 For I could wish myself to be accursed, to be separated from Christ, for my brothers who are my kinsmen according to the flesh,
4 (who are the Israelites), to whom pertains the adoption, and the glory, and the Covenants, and the giving of the Law, and the service of God, and the promises;
5 from whom are the Fathers, and from whom, concerning the flesh, Christ - Who is God over all, blessed forever – came. Amen.
13 And when Jesus heard it, He departed from there by ship into a desert place, alone. And when the multitude had heard it, they followed Him out of the cities on foot.
14 And Jesus went forth and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them. And He healed their sick.
15 And when evening had come, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a desert place. And the time is already late. Dismiss the multitude, so that they may go into the towns and buy food.
16 But Jesus said to them, “They have no need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 Then said they to Him, “We have here only five loaves, and two fishes.”
18 And He said, “Bring them here to Me.”
19 And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looked up to Heaven, and blessed and broke, and gave the loaves to His disciples. And the disciples gave them to the multitude.
20 And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
21 And those who had eaten (besides women and little children) were about five thousand men.
