Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
1 ¶ O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him; speak of all his wondrous works.
3 Glory in his holy name; let the heart of those that seek the LORD rejoice.
4 Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his face continually.
5 Remember his marvellous works that he has done, his wonders and the judgments of his mouth,
6 O ye seed of Abraham his slave, ye sons of Jacob his chosen.
7 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
8 ¶ He has remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded for a thousand generations,
9 which covenant he made with Abraham and his oath unto Isaac
10 and confirmed the same unto Jacob by decree, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:
11 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance,
45 that they might observe his statutes and keep his laws. Halelu-JAH.
9 ¶ And while he yet spoke with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she was the pastor.
10 And it came to pass when Jacob saw Rachel, the daughter of Laban, his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban, his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth and watered the flock of Laban, his mother’s brother.
11 And Jacob kissed Rachel and lifted up his voice and wept.
12 And Jacob told Rachel that he was of her father’s brethren, and that he was Rebekah’s son, and she ran and told her father.
13 And it came to pass when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister’s son that he ran to meet him and embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.
14 And Laban said to him, Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.
44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of the testimony in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen,
45 which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus {Joshua in Heb.} into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers unto the days of David,
46 who found grace before God and asked to provide a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
47 But Solomon built him a house.
48 Howbeit the most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as saith the prophet,
49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool; what house will ye build me? saith the Lord, or what is the place of my rest?
50 Has not my hand made all these things?
51 ¶ Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Who of the prophets have your fathers not persecuted? and they have slain those who announced before the coming of the Just One, of whom ye have now been the betrayers and murderers,
53 who have received the law by the disposition of angels and have not kept it.
