Psalm 13

Psalm 13

How Long, O Lord?

Heading

For the choir director. A psalm by David.

Anguished Questions

How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I experience worries in my soul,
sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy tower over me?

An Urgent Prayer

Look at me. Answer me, O Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes
so I do not sleep in death,
so my enemy does not say, “I have overcome him,”
so my foes do not rejoice when I fall.

A Solid Answer

But I trust in your mercy.
My heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord
because he has accomplished his purpose for me.

Genesis 26:23-25

23 He traveled from there to Beersheba. 24 The Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Do not be afraid, for I am with you, and I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

25 He built an altar there and proclaimed[a] the name of the Lord. He pitched his tent there. Isaac’s servants dug a well there.

Luke 17:1-4

Do Not Cause Little Believers to Fall Into Sin

17 Jesus said to his disciples, “Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for that person if a millstone would be hung around his neck and he would be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. Watch yourselves.

“If your brother sins, rebuke him. If he repents, forgive him. Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to you and says, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
