Good News Translation (GNT)
Version
Psalm 121

The Lord Our Protector

121 I look to the mountains;
    where will my help come from?
My help will come from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

He will not let you fall;
    your protector is always awake.

The protector of Israel
    never dozes or sleeps.
The Lord will guard you;
    he is by your side to protect you.
The sun will not hurt you during the day,
    nor the moon during the night.

The Lord will protect you from all danger;
    he will keep you safe.
He will protect you as you come and go
    now and forever.

Isaiah 51:1-3

Words of Comfort to Jerusalem

51 The Lord says,

“Listen to me, you that want to be saved,
    you that come to me for help.
Think of the rock from which you came,
    the quarry from which you were cut.
Think of your ancestor, Abraham,
    and of Sarah, from whom you are descended.
When I called Abraham, he was childless,
    but I blessed him and gave him children;
    I made his descendants numerous.

“I will show compassion to Jerusalem,
    to all who live in her ruins.
Though her land is a desert, I will make it a garden,
    like the garden I planted in Eden.
Joy and gladness will be there,
    and songs of praise and thanks to me.

2 Timothy 1:3-7

Thanksgiving and Encouragement

I give thanks to God, whom I serve with a clear conscience, as my ancestors did. I thank him as I remember you always in my prayers night and day. I remember your tears, and I want to see you very much, so that I may be filled with joy. (A)I remember the sincere faith you have, the kind of faith that your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice also had. I am sure that you have it also. For this reason I remind you to keep alive the gift that God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control.
