Version
Psalm 119:1-8

[a]Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
    who walk in accord with the law[b] of the Lord.
Blessed are those who observe his statutes
    and seek him with their whole heart.[c]
They do nothing wrong;
    they walk in his ways.[d]
[e]You have ordained
    that your commands be diligently observed.
May my ways be steadfast
    in the observance of your decrees.
Then I will never be put to shame
    when I take note of all your precepts.
I will praise you in sincerity of heart
    as I ponder your righteous judgments.
I will observe your decrees;
    do not forsake me completely.

Genesis 26:1-5

Chapter 26

Isaac Inherits the Blessing.[a] A second famine came upon the land (after the first famine in the days of Abraham). Isaac traveled to Gerar to Abimelech, the king of the Philistines. The Lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down into Egypt; live in the land to which I will direct you. Remain in that land for a while and I will be with you and bless you. I will give all these lands to you and your descendants and fulfill the promise I made to Abraham your father. I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars of the heavens and I will give them all these lands. All the nations on the earth will be blessed through your descendants, for Abraham listened to my voice and observed that which I ordered: my commandments, my ordinances and my laws.”

James 1:12-16

12 Trials and Temptations. Blessed is the man who perseveres when he is tempted, for when he has been proven, he will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.[a]

13 [b]While experiencing temptation, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 Rather, temptation occurs when someone is attracted and seduced by his own desire. 15 Then the desire conceives and gives birth to sin, and that sin, when it reaches full growth, gives birth to death.

16 Light and Life.[c] Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
