Psalm 80:1-7

God Implored to Rescue His People from Their Calamities.

For the choir director; set to [a]El Shoshannim; [b]Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph.

80 Oh, give ear, (A)Shepherd of Israel,
You who lead (B)Joseph like a flock;
You who (C)are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!
Before (D)Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, (E)stir up Your power
And come to save us!
O God, (F)restore us
And (G)cause Your face to shine upon us, [c]and we will be saved.

O (H)Lord God of hosts,
(I)How long will You [d]be angry with the prayer of Your people?
You have fed them with the (J)bread of tears,
And You have made them to drink tears in [e]large measure.
You make us [f]an object of contention (K)to our neighbors,
And our enemies laugh among themselves.
O God of hosts, restore us
And cause Your face to shine upon us, [g]and we will be saved.

Psalm 80:17-19

17 Let (A)Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand,
Upon the son of man whom You (B)made strong for Yourself.
18 Then we shall not (C)turn back from You;
(D)Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
19 O Lord God of hosts, (E)restore us;
Cause Your face to shine upon us, [a]and we will be saved.

2 Samuel 7:18-22

David’s Prayer

18 Then David the king went in and sat before the Lord, and he said, “(A)Who am I, O Lord [a]God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far? 19 And yet this was insignificant in Your eyes, O Lord God, (B)for You have spoken also of the house of Your servant concerning the distant future. And (C)this is the [b]custom of man, O Lord God. 20 Again what more can David say to You? For (D)You know Your servant, O Lord God! 21 (E)For the sake of Your word, and according to Your own heart, You have done all this greatness to let Your servant know. 22 For this reason (F)You are great, O Lord God; for (G)there is none like You, and there is no God besides You, (H)according to all that we have heard with our ears.

Galatians 4:1-7

Sonship in Christ

Now I say, as long as the heir is a [a]child, he does not differ at all from a slave although he is [b]owner of everything, but he is under guardians and [c]managers until the date set by the father. So also we, while we were children, were held (A)in bondage under the [d](B)elemental things of the world. But when (C)the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, (D)born of a woman, born (E)under [e]the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under [f]the Law, that we might receive the adoption as (F)sons. Because you are sons, (G)God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “(H)Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and (I)if a son, then an heir [g]through God.
