42 A psalm for David. Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation that is not holy: deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man.

² For thou art God my strength: why hast thou cast me off? and why do I go sorrowful whilst the enemy afflicteth me?

³ Send forth thy light and thy truth: they have conducted me, and brought me unto thy holy hill, and into thy tabernacles.

⁴ And I will go in to the altar of God: to God who giveth joy to my youth.

⁵ To thee, O God my God, I will give praise upon the harp: why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me?

⁶ Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him: the salvation of my countenance, and my God.

¹⁷ Is it not yet a very little while, and Libanus shall be turned into charmel, and charmel shall be esteemed as a forest?

¹⁸ And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and out of darkness and obscurity the eyes of the blind shall see.

¹⁹ And the meek shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

²⁰ For he that did prevail hath failed, the scorner is consumed, and they are all cut off that watched for iniquity:

²¹ That made men sin by word, and supplanted him that reproved them in the gate, and declined in vain from the just.

²² Therefore thus saith the Lord to the house of Jacob, he that redeemed Abraham: Jacob shall not now be confounded, neither shall his countenance now be ashamed:

²³ But when he shall see his children, the work of my hands in the midst of him sanctifying my name, and they shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall glorify the God of Israel:

²⁴ And they that erred in spirit, shall know understanding, and they that murmured, shall learn the law.

¹² And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

¹³ But of the rest no man durst join himself unto them; but the people magnified them.

¹⁴ And the multitude of men and women who believed in the Lord, was more increased:

¹⁵ Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that when Peter came, his shadow at the least, might overshadow any of them, and they might be delivered from their infirmities.

¹⁶ And there came also together to Jerusalem a multitude out of the neighbouring cities, bringing sick persons, and such as were troubled with unclean spirits; who were all healed.
