Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
40 Therefore, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against His people; and He abhorred His own inheritance.
41 And He gave them into the hand of the heathen; and those who hated them were lords over them.
42 Also, their enemies oppressed them; and they were humbled under their hand.
43 Many a time did He deliver them, but they provoked Him by their counsel. Therefore, they were brought down by their iniquity.
44 Yet, He saw when they were in affliction and He heard their cry.
45 And He remembered His Covenant toward them and repented, according to the multitude of His mercies,
46 and gave them favor in the sight of all those who had carried them away captive.
47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, so that we may praise Your Holy Name and glory in Your praise.
48 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, forever and ever; and let all the people say, “So be it! Praise the LORD!”
17 Gather up your wares out of the land, O you who dwells in the strong place.
18 For thus says the LORD: “Behold, at this time I will throw as with a sling the inhabitants of the land and will trouble them. And they shall find it so.”
19 Woe is me for my destruction and my grievous plague! But I thought, “Still, it is my sorrow and I will bear it.”
20 My tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken. My children have gone from me and are no more. There is no one to spread out my tent anymore, and to set up my curtains.
21 For the shepherds have become beasts and have not sought the LORD. Therefore, have they no understanding. And all the flocks of their pastures are scattered.
22 Behold, the noise of the report has come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, a den of dragons.
23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself, nor is it in man to walk and to direct his steps.
24 O LORD, correct me, but with judgment, not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.
25 Pour out Your wrath upon the heathen who do not know You, and upon the families that do not call on Your Name. For they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.
45 Then He said to His disciples (in front of all the people),
46 “Beware of the scribes who willingly walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets and the highest seats in the assemblies and the chief places at feasts!
47 “They devour widows’ houses and make long prayers for show! These shall receive greater damnation!”
21 And as He looked, He saw the rich, who cast their gifts into the treasury.
2 And He also saw a certain poor widow, who cast in two lepta.
3 And He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has cast in more than all of them.
4 “For they have all cast into the offerings of God out of their excess. But she, out of her poverty, has cast in all her livelihood.”
