10 Unto the end. A psalm for David.

² In the Lord I put my trust: how then do you say to my soul: Get thee away from hence to the mountain like a sparrow?

³ For, lo, the wicked have bent their bow; they have prepared their arrows in the quiver; to shoot in the dark the upright of heart.

⁴ For they have destroyed the things which thou hast made: but what has the just man done?

⁵ The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven. His eyes look on the poor man: his eyelids examine the sons of men.

⁶ The Lord trieth the just and the wicked: but he that loveth iniquity hateth his own soul.

⁷ He shall rain snares upon sinners: fire and brimstone and storms of winds shall be the portion of their cup.

⁸ For the Lord is just, and hath loved justice: his countenance hath beheld righteousness.

¹⁶ Therefore, do not thou pray for this people, nor take to thee praise and supplication for them: and do not withstand me: for I will not hear thee.

¹⁷ Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

¹⁸ The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to offer libations to strange gods, and to provoke me to anger.

¹⁹ Do they provoke me to anger, saith the Lord? Is it not themselves, to the confusion of their contenance?

²⁰ Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold my wrath and my indignation was enkindled against this place, upon men and upon beasts, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruits of the land, and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

²¹ Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat ye the flesh.

²² For I spoke not to your fathers, and I commanded them not, in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning the matter of burnt offerings and sacrifices.

²³ But this thing I commanded them, saying: Hearken to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people: and walk ye in all the way that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.

²⁴ But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear: but walked in their own will, and in the perversity of their wicked heart: and went backward and not forward,

²⁵ From the day that their fathers came out of the land of Egypt, even to this day. And I have sent to you all my servants the prophets from day to day, rising up early and sending.

²⁶ And they have not hearkened to me: nor inclined their ear: but have hardened their neck, and have done worse than their fathers.

⁷ And to the angel of the church of Philadelphia, write: These things saith the Holy One and the true one, he that hath the key of David; he that openeth, and no man shutteth; shutteth, and no man openeth:

⁸ I know thy works. Behold, I have given before thee a door opened, which no man can shut: because thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

⁹ Behold, I will bring of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie. Behold, I will make them to come and adore before thy feet. And they shall know that I have loved thee.

¹⁰ Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I will also keep thee from the hour of the temptation, which shall come upon the whole world to try them that dwell upon the earth.

¹¹ Behold, I come quickly: hold fast that which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

¹² He that shall overcome, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God; and he shall go out no more; and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and my new name.

¹³ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
