Yahweh’s Glory in Creation
For the music director, on the Gittith.[a] A psalm of David.[b]
8 Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth,
who put your splendor above the heavens.
2 From the mouth of children and infants you have founded[c] strength
on account of your enemies,
to silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars which you set in place—
4 what is a human being that you think of him?
and a child of humankind that you care for him?
5 And you made him a little lower than heavenly beings,[d]
and with glory and with majesty you crowned him.
6 You make him over the works of your hands;
all things you have placed under his feet:
7 sheep and cattle, all of them,
and also the wild animals of the field,
8 the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea,
everything that passes along the paths of seas.
9 Yahweh, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all of the earth!
13 Happy is the one[a] who finds wisdom,
and one who obtains understanding.
14 For her[b] income is better than the income of silver,
and her revenue than that of gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies,
and all your desires shall not compare with her.
16 Length of days is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
and all her paths are peace.
18 She is a tree of life for those who seize her;
those who take hold of her are considered happy.
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father[a],[b] may give you a spirit of wisdom[c] and revelation in the knowledge of him 18 (the eyes of your hearts having been enlightened), so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance among the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his mighty strength
