¹⁶ And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain girl, having a pythonical spirit, met us, who brought to her masters much gain by divining.

¹⁷ This same following Paul and us, cried out, saying: These men are the servants of the most high God, who preach unto you the way of salvation.

¹⁸ And this she did many days. But Paul being grieved, turned, and said to the spirit: I command thee, in the name of Jesus Christ, to go out from her. And he went out the same hour.

¹⁹ But her masters, seeing that the hope of their gain was gone, apprehending Paul and Silas, brought them into the marketplace to the rulers.

²⁰ And presenting them to the magistrates, they said: These men disturb our city, being Jews;

²¹ And preach a fashion which it is not lawful for us to receive nor observe, being Romans.

²² And the people ran together against them; and the magistrates rending off their clothes, commanded them to be beaten with rods.

²³ And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the gaoler to keep them diligently.

²⁴ Who having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

²⁵ And at midnight, Paul and Silas praying, praised God. And they that were in prison, heard them.

²⁶ And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and the bands of all were loosed.

²⁷ And the keeper of the prison, awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the doors of the prison open, drawing his sword, would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

²⁸ But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying: Do thyself no harm, for we all are here.

²⁹ Then calling for a light, he went in, and trembling, fell down at the feet of Paul and Silas.

³⁰ And bringing them out, he said: Masters, what must I do, that I may be saved?

³¹ But they said: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

³² And they preached the word of the Lord to him and to all that were in his house.

³³ And he, taking them the same hour of the night, washed their stripes, and himself was baptized, and all his house immediately.

³⁴ And when he had brought them into his own house, he laid the table for them, and rejoiced with all his house, believing God.

97 A psalm for David himself. Sing ye to the Lord anew canticle: because he hath done wonderful things. His right hand hath wrought for him salvation, and his arm is holy.

² The Lord hath made known his salvation: he hath revealed his justice in the sight of the Gentiles.

³ He hath remembered his mercy his truth toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

⁴ Sing joyfully to God, all the earth; make melody, rejoice and sing.

⁵ Sing praise to the Lord on the harp, on the harp, and with the voice of a psalm:

⁶ With long trumpets, and sound of comet. Make a joyful noise before the Lord our king:

⁷ Let the sea be moved and the fulness thereof: the world and they that dwell therein.

⁸ The rivers shall clap their hands, the mountains shall rejoice together

⁹ At the presence of the Lord: because he cometh to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with justice, and the people with equity.

¹² Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to every man according to his works.

¹³ I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

¹⁴ Blessed are they that wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb: that they may have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

¹⁶ I Jesus have sent my angel, to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and stock of David, the bright and morning star.

¹⁷ And the spirit and the bride say: Come. And he that heareth, let him say: Come. And he that thirsteth, let him come: and he that will, let him take the water of life, freely.

²⁰ He that giveth testimony of these things, saith, Surely I come quickly: Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

²¹ The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

²⁰ And not for them only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me;

²¹ That they all may be one, as thou, Father, in me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

²² And the glory which thou hast given me, I have given to them; that they may be one, as we also are one:

²³ I in them, and thou in me; that they may be made perfect in one: and the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast also loved me.

²⁴ Father, I will that where I am, they also whom thou hast given me may be with me; that they may see my glory which thou hast given me, because thou hast loved me before the creation of the world.

²⁵ Just Father, the world hath not known thee; but I have known thee: and these have known that thou hast sent me.

²⁶ And I have made known thy name to them, and will make it known; that the love wherewith thou hast loved me, may be in them, and I in them.
