Psalm 84

The Blessedness of Dwelling in the House of God

To the Chief Musician. (A)On[a] an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

84 How (B)lovely [b]is Your tabernacle,
O Lord of hosts!
(C)My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Even the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her young—
Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
My King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in Your (D)house;
They will still be praising You. Selah

Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley (E)of [c]Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with [d]pools.
They go (F)from strength to strength;
[e]Each one (G)appears before God in Zion.

O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
(H)O God, behold our shield,
And look upon the face of Your [f]anointed.

10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather [g]be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is (I)a sun and (J)shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
(K)No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

12 O Lord of hosts,
(L)Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

1 Kings 4:29-34

29 And (A)God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore. 30 Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men (B)of the East and all (C)the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he was (D)wiser than all men—(E)than Ethan the Ezrahite, (F)and Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. 32 (G)He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his (H)songs were one thousand and five. 33 Also he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree of Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of animals, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish. 34 And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, (I)came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.

Romans 13:11-14

Put on Christ

11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time (A)to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. (B)Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and (C)let us put on the armor of light. 13 (D)Let us walk [a]properly, as in the day, (E)not in revelry and drunkenness, (F)not in lewdness and lust, (G)not in strife and envy. 14 But (H)put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and (I)make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
