84 Unto the end, for the sons of Core, a psalm.

² Lord, thou hast blessed thy land: thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob.

³ Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered all their sins.

⁴ Thou hast mitigated all thy anger: thou hast turned away from the wrath of thy indignation.

⁵ Convert us, O God our saviour: and turn off thy anger from us.

⁶ Wilt thou be angry with us for ever: or wilt thou extend thy wrath from generation to generation?

⁷ Thou wilt turn, O God, and bring us to life: and thy people shall rejoice in thee.

⁸ shew us, O Lord, thy mercy; and grant us thy salvation.

⁹ I will hear what the Lord God will speak in me: for he will speak peace unto his people: And unto his saints: and unto them that are converted to the heart.

¹⁰ Surely his salvation is near to them that fear him: that glory may dwell in our land.

¹¹ Mercy and truth have met each other: justice and peace have kissed.

¹² Truth is sprung out of the earth: and justice hath looked down from heaven.

¹³ For the Lord will give goodness: and our earth shall yield her fruit.

¹⁴ Justice shall walk before him: and shall set his steps in the way.

²⁰ Juda and Israel were innumerable, as the sand of the sea in multitude: eating and drinking, and rejoicing.

²¹ And Solomon had under him all the kingdoms from the river to the land of the Philistines, even to the border of Egypt: and they brought him presents, and served him, all the days of his life.

²² And the provision of Solomon for each day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

²³ Ten fat oxen and twenty out of the pastures, and a hundred rams, besides venison of harts, roes, and buffles, and fatted fowls.

²⁴ For he had all the country which was beyond the river, from Thaphsa to Gazan, and all the kings of those countries: and he had peace on every side round about.

²⁵ And Juda and Israel dwelt without any fear, every one under his vine, and under his fig tree, from Dan to Bersabee, all the days of Solomon.

²⁶ And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of chariot horses, and twelve thousand for the saddle.

²⁷ And the foresaid governors of the king fed them: and they furnished the necessaries also for king Solomon's table, with great care in their time.

²⁸ They brought barley also and straw for the horses, and beasts, to the place where the king was, according as it was appointed them.

5 But of the times and moments, brethren, you need not, that we should write to you;

² For yourselves know perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall so come, as a thief in the night.

³ For when they shall say, peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the pains upon her that is with child, and they shall not escape.

⁴ But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

⁵ For all you are the children of light, and children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

⁶ Therefore, let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch, and be sober.

⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunk, are drunk in the night.

⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.

⁹ For God hath not appointed us unto wrath, but unto the purchasing of salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁰ Who died for us; that, whether we watch or sleep, we may live together with him.

¹¹ For which cause comfort one another; and edify one another, as you also do.
