Evening Prayer of Trust

Answer me when I call, O my God Who is right and good! You have made a way for me when I needed help. Be kind to me, and hear my prayer.

O sons of men, how long will you turn my honor into shame? How long will you love what is of no use, and run after lies? Know that the Lord has set apart him who is God-like for Himself. The Lord hears when I call to Him.

Shake with anger and do not sin. When you are on your bed, look into your hearts and be quiet. Give the gifts that are right and good, and trust in the Lord.

Many are asking, “Who will show us any good?” Let the light of Your face shine on us, O Lord. You have filled my heart with more happiness than they have when there is much grain and wine. I will lie down and sleep in peace. O Lord, You alone keep me safe.

Acts 3:1-10

Peter and John Heal a Man at the Gate of the House of God

Peter and John were going to the house of God about three o’clock. It was the time for prayer. Each day a certain man was carried to the Beautiful Gate of the house of God. This man had never been able to walk. He was there begging for money from those who were going in. He asked Peter and John for money when he saw them going in. Peter and John looked at him. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” The man who could not walk looked at them. He thought he would get something from them. Peter said, “I have no money, but what I have I will give you! In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” Peter took the man by the right hand and lifted him up. At once his feet and the bones in his legs became strong. He jumped up on his feet and walked. Then he went into the house of God with them. He gave thanks to God as he walked.

All the people saw him walking and giving thanks to God. 10 They knew it was the man who had been sitting and begging at the Beautiful Gate. They were surprised he was walking.

Luke 22:24-30

Arguing about Who Is the Greatest

24 They started to argue among themselves about who was thought to be the greatest. 25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the nations show their power to the people. Those who have power over the people are given names of honor. 26 But you will not be like that. Let the greatest among you be as the least. Let the leader be as the one who cares for others. 27 Who is greater, the one who is eating at the table, or the one who is caring for him? Is it not the one who is eating at the table? But I am here with you as One Who cares for you.

The Followers Will Be Honored

28 “You have stayed with Me through all the hard things that have come to Me. 29 As My Father has given Me a holy nation, I will give you the right 30 to eat and drink at My table in My holy nation. You will sit on thrones and judge the twelve family groups of the Jewish nation.”
