Psalm 107:1-3

BOOK V

(Psalms 107–150)

The Lord Is Good to His People

(A) Shout praises to the Lord!
He is good to us,
    and his love never fails.
Everyone the Lord has rescued
from trouble
    should praise him,
everyone he has brought
from the east and the west,
    the north and the south.[a]

Psalm 107:17-22

17 Some of you had foolishly
committed a lot of sins
    and were in terrible pain.
18 The very thought of food
was disgusting to you,
    and you were almost dead.
19 You were in serious trouble,
but you prayed to the Lord,
    and he rescued you.
20 By the power of his own word,
he healed you and saved you
    from destruction.

21 You should praise the Lord
    for his love
and for the wonderful things
he does for all of us.
22 You should celebrate
    by offering sacrifices
and singing joyful songs
to tell what he has done.

Daniel 12:5-13

The End of Time

Daniel wrote:

I looked around and saw two other people—one on this side of the river and one on the other side. The angel who had spoken to me was dressed in linen and was standing upstream from them.[a] So one of the two beside the river asked him, “How long before these amazing things happen?”

(A) The angel then raised both hands toward heaven and said, “In the name of the God who lives forever, I solemnly promise that it will be a time, two times, and half a time.[b] Everything will be over, when the suffering of God's holy people comes to an end.”

I heard what the angel said, but I didn't understand. So I asked, “Sir, how will it all end?”

The angel in my vision then replied:

Daniel, go about your business, because the meaning of this message will remain secret until the end of time. 10 (B) Many people will have their hearts and lives made pure and clean, but those who are evil will keep on being evil and never understand. Only the wise will understand. 11 (C) There will be 1,290 days from the time that the daily sacrifices are stopped, until someone sets up the “Horrible Thing” that causes destruction. 12 God will bless everyone who patiently waits until 1,335 days have gone by.

13 So, Daniel, be faithful until the end! You will rest, and at the end of time, you will rise from death to receive your reward.

Ephesians 1:7-14

7-8 (A) Christ sacrificed his life's blood to set us free, which means our sins are now forgiven. Christ did this because of God's gift of undeserved grace to us. God has great wisdom and understanding, and by what Christ has done, God has shown us his own mysterious ways. 10 Then when the time is right, God will do all he has planned, and Christ will bring together everything in heaven and on earth.

11 God always does what he plans, and this is why he appointed Christ to choose us. 12 He did this so we Jews would bring honor to him and be the first ones to have hope because of him. 13 Christ also brought you the truth, which is the good news about how you can be saved. You put your faith in Christ and were given the promised Holy Spirit to show you belong to God. 14 The Spirit also makes us sure we will be given what God has stored up for his people. Then we will be set free, and God will be honored and praised.
