Psalm 27

A Psalm of Fearless Trust in God.

A Psalm of David.

27 The Lord is my (A)light and my (B)salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the [a](C)defense of my life;
(D)Whom shall I dread?
When evildoers came upon me to (E)devour my flesh,
My adversaries and my enemies, they (F)stumbled and fell.
Though a (G)host encamp against me,
My heart will not fear;
Though war arise against me,
In spite of this I [b]shall be (H)confident.

(I)One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek:
That I may (J)dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold (K)the [c]beauty of the Lord
And to [d](L)meditate in His temple.
For in the (M)day of trouble He will (N)conceal me in His [e]tabernacle;
In the secret place of His tent He will (O)hide me;
He will (P)lift me up on a rock.
And now (Q)my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,
And I will offer in His tent (R)sacrifices [f]with shouts of joy;
I will (S)sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

(T)Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice,
And be gracious to me and (U)answer me.
When You said, “(V)Seek My face,” my heart said to You,
“Your face, O Lord, (W)I shall seek.”
(X)Do not hide Your face from me,
Do not turn Your servant away in (Y)anger;
You have been (Z)my help;
(AA)Do not abandon me nor (AB)forsake me,
O God of my salvation!
10 [g]For my father and (AC)my mother have forsaken me,
But (AD)the Lord will take me up.

11 (AE)Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a (AF)level path
Because of [h]my foes.
12 Do not deliver me over to the [i](AG)desire of my adversaries,
For (AH)false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as (AI)breathe out violence.
13 [j]I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the (AJ)goodness of the Lord
In the (AK)land of the living.
14 (AL)Wait for the Lord;
Be (AM)strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.

Isaiah 26:7-15

The (A)way of the righteous is smooth;
O Upright One, (B)make the path of the righteous level.
Indeed, while following the way of (C)Your judgments, O Lord,
We have waited for You eagerly;
(D)Your name, even Your (E)memory, is the desire of our souls.
(F)At night [a]my soul longs for You,
Indeed, [b]my spirit within me (G)seeks You diligently;
For when the earth [c]experiences Your judgments
The inhabitants of the world (H)learn righteousness.
10 Though the wicked is shown favor,
He does not (I)learn righteousness;
He (J)deals unjustly in the land of uprightness,
And does not perceive the majesty of the Lord.

11 O Lord, Your hand is lifted up yet they (K)do not see it.
[d]They see (L)Your zeal for the people and are put to shame;
Indeed, [e](M)fire will devour Your enemies.
12 Lord, You will establish (N)peace for us,
Since You have also performed for us all our works.
13 O Lord our God, (O)other masters besides You have ruled us;
But through You alone we [f](P)confess Your name.
14 (Q)The dead will not live, the [g]departed spirits will not rise;
Therefore You have (R)punished and destroyed them,
And You have wiped out all remembrance of them.
15 (S)You have increased the nation, O Lord,
You have increased the nation, You are glorified;
You have (T)extended all the borders of the land.

Acts 2:37-42

The Ingathering

37 Now when they heard this, they were [a]pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “[b]Brethren, [c](A)what shall we do?” 38 Peter said to them, “(B)Repent, and each of you be (C)baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For (D)the promise is for you and your children and for all who are (E)far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40 And with many other words he solemnly (F)testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “[d]Be saved from this (G)perverse generation!” 41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand [e](H)souls. 42 They were (I)continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to (J)the breaking of bread and [f](K)to prayer.
